Victims were shot near Cypress Avenue and Future Street (red marker) in Cypress Park before their vehicle crashed near Eagle Rock Boulevard and Verdugo Road (blue marker) in Glassell Park.
The suspects who opened fire and killed two known gang members in a Cypress Park drive-by shooting early Saturday morning remain at large, police said today.
The two victims, Alfred Lopez, 32, and Juan Carlos Martinez, 18, were traveling in a Ford Explorer in Cypress Park when they came under fire from the occupants of another vehicle. The victim’s car traveled a half mile from the shooting scene before it collided with a boat parked on a trailer near Verdugo Road and Eagle Rock Boulevard, according to LAPD. Northeast Division Capt. Jeffrey Bert said the two victims, who were found dead in the vehicle, were known gang members who lived in the area. Little is known about the suspects, however, one of whom was described as a Latino male in his 20s, standing 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs about 160 to 170 pounds.
The shooters fled in a teal green, mid-sized vehicle.
