For the socially-conscious Do-It-Yourselfer, the new Habitat for Humanity ReStore in the far north end of Atwater Village allows you to shop for building supplies while supporting the construction of homes for low-income families. The donated items range from hardware and doors to kitchen cabinets and tile at prices said to be 30% below those at standard home improvement chains, according to Habitat ReStore. A share of the proceeds are funneled back to help the San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity build more affordable homes.
