ECHO PARK -- Stephen Roullier looked out his window at Echo Park Lake this morning and noticed something unusual - the fountain in the middle of the lake was spouting Dodger Blue-colored water. Is this photo for real? Yes, it is, said Roullier of the Tidy Bowl-Blue gusher.
EL SERENO -- The all-female roller derby teams that make up the L.A. Derby Dolls league are tough and fast, but they are apparently no match for a wave of real estate development. That's why the Derby Dolls are moving from their long-time location in Echo Park to a new facility in El Sereno, the league announced today.
SILVER LAKE -- The oval Ralphs supermarket signs were removed and trucked away today from the Silver Lake store, which official closed on Sunday. Whole Foods has said it plans to open in the same Glendale Boulevard location after it is remodeled and expanded.
ECHO PARK -- Construction will soon begin on 2,000 feet of sound walls along the 2 Freeway as part of a larger project to reconfigure the southern end of the 2 Freeway.
ECHO PARK – After the small, peach-colored duplex at 1936 Preston Avenue went up for sale last summer for $599,000, a buyer eventually emerged who paid $170,000 over the asking. But the new owners had no intention of moving into the 1920s property. Instead, 4site Holdings LLC, a Silver Lake-based developer, wants to demolish that duplex and building five townhomes on the same lot.
