LINCOLN HEIGHTS – Stocked with 300 bottles of craft beer and wine, The Heights Deli & Bottle Shop held a “soft opening” today. Owner Vanessa Baek, a Lincoln Heights resident who also operates Xlixe pizzeria in Little Tokyo, said she hopes her new store will bring residents together even as it generated comments from Eastsider readers concerned about the gentrification.
“I wanted to offer a way to bring options to both the long time residents and the influx of new residents coming into our neighborhood,” Baek said in a press release. “It’s not a secret that this neighborhood is changing, but instead of looking at it as a way to divide, I thought why not find a way to bring everyone together under a common ground?”
Located on the 2900 block of North Broadway next to the Chapalita taco stand, the deli portion of The Heights will be selling meats and cheeses, hot Italian subs and sandwiches, salads and pizza. The Heights’ wine selection will feature “wine that you couldn’t find in your local supermarket” and a large selection of craft beers from El Segundo Brewery, St. Archer Brewing and other providers.
