EAST LOS ANGELES — A teenage male was fatally shot tonight in the 3500 block of Cesar Chavez Avenue only a little more than six months after a deadly shooting took place in the same area.
L.A. Now reports that the victim, who was shot at about 6 p.m., was pronounced dead after being transported to a hospital.
Updated on Sunday, Nov 8: The victim, a 14-year-old Latino gang member, may have accidentally shot himself while handling a loaded handgun, according to an L.A. Sheriffs Department statement. The victim was found in an alley with a gunshot wound to the head. The investigation continues.
Detectives learned that on Saturday, November 7, 2015, at approximately 6:10 PM , deputies from the East Los Angeles Station responded to the 3500 block of Cesar Chavez Avenue, in East Los Angeles. When they arrived, the deputies found a young Latino male lying in the alley south of Cesar Chavez Avenue. The boy was suffering from a gunshot wound to his head. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
