ECHO PARK — A sedan struck at least two parked vehicles in the 1600 block of Echo Park Avenue early this morning, with gasoline from one of the damaged vehicles sent flowing down a gutter.
There were no injuries but firefighters had to pour some dirt into spots along nearly a block-long stretch of the gutter to absorb the fuel and prevent it from reaching a storm drain, said L.A. Fire Dpeartment Capt. Joe Lopez. The gasoline had leaked from a parked SUV that was struck by a southbound Lexus sedan at about 2 a.m.
The sedan hit a second parked car and skidded for half a blocked before coming to a stop in the opposing traffic lane. The driver remained at the scene as officers arrived to investigate the cause of the collision.
Update: Aaron Procter supplied the photos below of the parked vehicles that were damaged.
