ECHO PARK — Kush Sake Bar, a yakitori and sake bar connected to the owner of Silverlake Ramen, has closed a little more than two years after opening for business. Now, it appears that a new Japanese-style restaurant is preparing to launch in the same spot on Allison Street, off of Sunset Boulevard.
Kush’s state alcohol license has been transferred to Tsubaki LLC, a company controlled by Margaret Courtney Kaplan and Charles Toshio Namba. Not much is known about the new place but food and restaurant writer Pat Saperstein describes it as an izakaya, a Japanese style gastropub.
The Eastsider has contacted Kush, which closed earlier this month, through its Facebook page but has received no response.
The same brick-walled space housed Cortez, which closed after 18 months.
