- Most of the City Council candidates seeking reelection on Tuesday won by comfortably wide margins – except for 1st District Councilman Gil Cedillo, who barely avoided a runoff with 50.98% of the vote, according to preliminary results. But voting expert Paul Mitchell told the L.A. Times that Cedillo might still be forced into a runoff with second-place vote getter Joe Bray-Ali when all outstanding ballots are counted. “It’s going to be one we have to watch for the next three or four days as they count ballots …. It will be a nail-biter.”
