SILVER LAKE — Sooner or later a construction fence is covered with signs promoting political candidates or someone offering to buy your house for cash. But the signage hung from the chain link fence at Glendale Boulevard and Rowena Avenue has a definite political tone.
For several months now, the curving fence has displayed a changing collection of signs that seek support for numerous causes, from health care reform to solar power. There are also calls to “Avenge “CVILLE” and to “RISE LOVE RESIST.” More than a dozen signs, made from sheets of cloth, cardboard and other types and poster board, were attached to the fence recently.
It’s not clear if this is a group effort or not. In May, a posting on Facebook encouraged people to attach their protest and dissent signs on the fence. What is certain is that those signs and fence will eventually come down to reveal three new townhomes.
