No, you are not seeing things. That was a pickup truck driving around with a giant Dodger hat.
It belongs to Echo Park resident and set builder Erik Dahl. The hat had been hanging around his Boyle Heights construction workshop until the team finally made it to the World Series after nearly three decades. Erika Meier provided some background and pictures of the big hat:
“In true Dodger spirit, local Echo Park resident for over 20 years, Erik Dahl of Dahlhouse Scenery has been waiting to put a fresh coat of Pantone 294 (Dodge Blue) on the hat that has been hanging in his set construction shop for years. When the Dodgers make it to the World Series, that hat is going on my truck,’ he has said. Well that time has finally arrived. Be on the lookout for it over the next week and maybe even longer if the Dodgers win the World Series.”
The six-foot-long, five-foot-wide is sculpted from foam while the bill is made of wood.
