Renowned Austrian guitarist Thomas Leeb is anything but ordinary. His technique has been likened to a wild trip on an acoustic roller coaster. Leeb himself often refers to his unconventional style of acoustic percussion guitar tapping as “the bastard child of acoustic guitar.”
This Saturday, Oct. 1, Leeb will showcase his captivating style at The Fretted Frog, Echo Park’s very own alternative acoustic guitar store.
This is what Roland Belloir, owner of the Fretted Frog has to say about Leeb:
Thomas Leeb is part of the new acoustic guitar generation, among Andy McKee and Antoine Dufour, for which the acoustic guitar does not have any physical boundaries. Check his videos and get a better idea. With an intimate room and a great acoustic, you’ll get the best experience you can get from Thomas’ performance.
Doors open at 8:00pm and the cost is $10.
The Fretted Frog also regularly holds open mic nights where performers are welcome to share what Belloir proudly refers to as 100% acoustic, 100% original songs. Upcoming open mics are scheduled for Tuesday, October 13, and October 27. Doors open at 7:45 p.m. Admittance is free but donations are appreciated.
The Fretted Frog is located at 1200 N. Alvarado, L.A. 90026
