Hilltop, a cooperative Silver Lake nursery school that has operated for nearly 60 years, will be holding a Bollywood-themed party and silent auction fundraiser on Saturday, March 10 at the L.A. River Center in Cypress Park. The fundraiser is the biggest of the year for the school, located at Bellevue Park, and has grown increasingly important as the city has cut back funding, said Hilltop parent Matt Nasatir. Said Nastir in an email:
Hilltop’s scholarship program provides full or partial tuition subsidies on a sliding scale, meaning the school is economically, as well as ethnically, diverse. Until recently, over half of Hilltop’s students received assistance, and we are striving to return to this number.
The silent auction will include “bargains on all kinds of lots, from dance lessons to sports tickets, vacation packages to restaurant gift certificates.” Admission ranges from $15 to $25 per person. Click here for more details.
