The joggers and walkers who circle the Silver Lake reservoirs were advised to unplug their iPods and headphones after two runners were recently robbed of portable electronics.
The separate robberies have taken place since April 28 in the evening as at least three or four suspects described as Latino males have taken electronics from the victims, in one case threatening one of the joggers with a weapon, according to an alert issued Thursday by the LAPD Northeast Division.
The Eastsider reported a first-hand account of the one of the victims, who was robbed on Monday night at West Silver Lake Drive and Hawick Street.
The suspects were described as being between the ages of 16 to 20 with black hair and brown eyes; 5′-5″ to 6′-0″ in height; and 160-200 pounds. The robbers fled in cars that resembled either a late 1990s silver or tan Toyota square back with tinted windows or a silver, four-door Honda.
Police advised the joggers and walkers who circle the Silver Lake reservoirs to leave their iPhones/iPods, headphones and /MP3 players at home.
“Joggers are also encouraged to jog around the Silver Lake reservoir during daylight hours and preferably with a partner.”
