We are inviting the community, youth groups, families and individuals to join us as we learn about summer tree care and then take that learning and put it into action and care for our Elysian Park trees.
This summer TreePeople is offering Summer Tree Care Internships/clinics to youth & volunteer groups, and select organizations. Biocitizen LA is an Echo Park based, non-profit environmental education organization for ages 6 – 14. Our organization was asked to host an event and we picked our back yard, Elysian Park!Summer Tree Care Clinic: Monday July 31st at 9AM (start time for demo) to 12:30 PM
The day will start with a demonstration of tree health assessment & techniques to care for our drought stressed trees, teams will break off and we’ll take on mature trees which have previously designated as drought stressed, as well the young saplings planted along the trail just below Park Drive. These young trees are part of a large planting by CityPlants/LA Conservation Corp, Council District 13 and local elementary school children.
TreePeople will provide the knowledge and the tools, we bring the Biocitizens! Please bring gloves, hats, sunblock, and your personal water – We’ll end the day with some refreshments and a little celebration of our hard work!
From the TreePeople: “Trees are the most vital resource for environmental well-being in urban areas. Join us in caring for the trees of Los Angeles this summer and help nature heal our city!”
The Summer Tree Care Clinic will be held on Monday July 31st from 9AM (start time for demo) to 12:30 PM
